The Center for Cosmetic Surgery offers breast augmentation surgery to residents of Fort Worth, Arlington and the surrounding communities in Texas.
What Is Breast Augmentation?
Many women choose breast augmentation procedures to provide a more balanced profile and gain one or more cup sizes. Perhaps they yearn for a more proportional figure overall, or maybe they have lost volume and texture after childbirth and breastfeeding. Others have an asymmetric bust line or a congenital defect that can be corrected with breast surgery. These reasons make breast augmentation one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures available.
With this procedure, Dr. Lavine can create fuller and more even breasts that fit proportionally with the rest of the body. When needed, this procedure can be combined with a breast lift. After breast augmentation surgery, patientsenjoy a more shapely profile, and often an enhanced self-image.
How Is Breast Augmentation Performed?
During this procedure, Dr. Lavine makes small, hidden incisions to insert silicone shells behind the breast, either underneath the breast tissue or behind the muscle wall. Dr. Lavine places the implant beneath the muscle in the majority of cases but each patient is evaluated individually to determine the procedure that will best benefit them. Placing the implant beneath the muscle does result in a slightly more painful recovery however, Dr. Lavine feels that, in most patients, placement beneath the muscle is beneficial and results in a better lasting result. Dr. Lavine completed a 14-year, internationally published study documenting the differences in placing implants above and below the muscle. He will be happy to discuss his findings with you during consultation. In both cases, whether above or below the muscle, the shells are filled with either saline (salt water solution) or silicone gel, both of which are safe and have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). During your consultation, Dr. Lavine will help you determine which options are best for you. Regardless of what you choose, your breast size will increase by at least one cup size, and your results will look and feel natural and comfortable.
What Can I Expect During Recovery from Breast Augmentation?
You may feel some fatigue and soreness during the first couple of days, but most patients are able to return to work after three to five days. Post-operative pain and sensitivity will gradually fade away after a few weeks. After a few months, the discreet incision scars will begin to fade and will keep diminishing over months or years.
